A lot of people neglect and sacrifice their sleep time so they can be more productive and get more done during the extended day....this is a bad idea to repeatedly do this.

•Human growth hormone (HGh) is released during sleep. The more sleep, the more HGh is released. HGh helps repair our muscles, bones, and any other areas of injury.

•Less sleep also equals less Leptin.

Leptin is an appetite regulating hormone.

When we we are deficient, we feel less satisfied after meals and more hungry throughout the day causing us to consume more calories which contributes to weight gain.

•During sleep, energy is restored, tissues regrow, and heart rate plus blood pressure drops which is very healing and helpful to our cardiovascular system.

•One of the biggest and most common fears we have as we age is possible brain and cognitive deficits like Alzheimer’s and Dementia. During sleep, our brains clear out toxins, make new connections through neurons, and process our memories.

•Esthetically, sleeplessness makes you more prone to wrinkles, fine lines, and uneven skin tones.

•Our immune system recharges as well while we sleep. So poor sleep can make you more susceptible to colds and flus.

•Chronic sleep deprivation can lower your sex hormones(testosterone for men and estrogen for women) 10%-15%. This contributes to pre mature aging.

•A quick note about sleep hygiene.

Your bedroom and the bed in it should ONLY be used for 2 things, sleep and I’m sure you can guess the other.

Watching TV, playing on your cell phone, using your iPad for movies or tablet for reading adjusts your brain waves, fatigues your eyes with blue light, and promotes dysfunction in your sleep wake cycle.

I’d prefer your home wifi be turned off and/or your electronics in the off mode or airplane mode while you sleep.

Sweet Dreams…
